Ignores various anti-ranged tech because you don't target the fighter:.Ignores negative hit modifiers from cover if you can find "a point on the battlefield" to aim at next to the fighter you want to hit.Can snipe Engaged enemies, with much lower risk of harming your own fighter(s).Can snipe with pin-point accuracy 48" away in complete darkness. Ignores low light conditions (night fighting). There are many features that give unbalance to blast weapons and make them particularly powerful: Their solution was to slap on a cover save, a positive save modifier if there were cover between the center of the blast and the fighter. GW noticed the complaints (that started immediately after the release in November 2017). My interpretation is this is limited to any physical point on a terrain (anything that is not air). If I remember correctly, you target any "point" on the battlefield.
